Fall 2012 Town Meeting concludes

Amherst's Fall 2012 Special Town Meeting concluded after its third session on Wednesday, November 28.  Average attendance during the three nights of this Town Meeting was 71.6%, the highest attendance at a fall Town Meeting in the past six years.

The final session produced a tally vote on Article 16, a citizen petition article that would have amended the zoning bylaw to require that all conversions to duplexes be regulated under the "Converted Dwellings" section of the zoning bylaw.  The article failed by a vote of 99 YES, 56 NO (changes to the zoning bylaw require a two-thirds majority in order to pass).

The database at tallyvotes.org has been updated with the tally vote results, along with attendance records for all three sessions of the Fall Town Meeting.  Click the links below to see the results from each of the tally votes, or use the "Go to the database" button at the top of the page to access the full database search screen.
