Amherst held a one-session Special Town Meeting on July 27, 2009, primarily for the consideration of local-option meals and lodging taxes, but the meeting also dealt with several other issues, including another consideration of the library budget.  The Library Trustees brought forward an article to amend the budget adopted at June's Annual Town Meeting, to increase the library appropriation by $34,704.  The vote on the article went to a tally vote, with the article being defeated by a vote of 78 YES, 96 NO.
